Hypower's current product the Hydro Power Pak (HPP) is a retrofit hydrogen insertion device developed for use on tractor trailer rigs as well as stationary diesel engines to improve fuel economy, reduce harmful emissions and increase engine performance and horsepower. Although the HPP does not eliminate the need for gasoline, diesel or other fuels it does provide the onboard production of hydrogen that supplements the primary fuel source. Hypower believes the HPP is more efficient than any existing form of electrolysis-based hydrogen production/insertion technology. The HPP is a transition technology paving the way for future retrofit hydrogen production technologies that will allow engines to be fueled totally with hydrogen produced on board, on demand.
The HPP uses electrolysis to produce hydrogen in mass quantities
using a minimum of energy. The HPP is more efficient than any existing form of
electrolysis-based hydrogen production technology. Hydrogen
Assisted Vehicles (H2AV) - vehicles equipped with the HPP - have
their primary fuel source supplemented with hydrogen produced by
the Hydro Power Pak. The HPP does not completely eliminate the
need for gasoline/diesel, it supplements the primary fuel source.
The HPP uses water to produce a combination of hydrogen and oxygen to supplement the engines primary fuel source. The HPP's five gallon tank of water has a range of up to 5,000 miles when utilized on diesel engines in trucks or tractor trailers. To date, the HPP has been rigorously tested both in the lab and in field applications.
In the engine, hydrogen:
Lowers operating costs by increasing fuel efficiency
Lowers particulate and gaseous emissions
Induces a cleaner, more efficient burn
Removes carbon residue and sludge buildup
Reduces need for oil changes (engine oil stays cleaner,
longer)
Results in fewer maintenance problems, especially with fuel
injector systems
